Wicked

9 years after it first debuted, Wicked has become one of the most well regarded modern musicals. The Olivier Award nominated production, with words and music by Stephen Schwartz, has gone from strength throughout both its West End residence and brief touring sprints around the UK.

Show Biography

After debuting on Broadway in 2003, earning three Tony Awards, a Grammy for the Bust Music Show Album and two Olivier Awards, ‘Wicked’ made it’s away across the ocean and settled on the shores of the UK in 2006. Since then this musical has seen overwhelming success and gone on to win over 100 major international awards. With music and lyrics by the Academy Award winning Stephen Schwartz, a film and theatre veteran, it was sure to succeed.

Wicked tells the story of the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good, adapted from Gregory Maguire’s 1995 novel that reimagines the backstories of these two iconic characters. Elephaba and Glinda are two young yet contrasting witches attending sorcery school. They share a room together explore a difficult relationship full of bumps along the way: ambition, morality, and even love.
With plenty of nods to the classic 1939 film, Wicked takes us on a journey of flying monkeys, ruby slippers and house wrecking tornadoes once again as we learn how Glinda and the Wicked Witch of the West became famous – or infamous.

Already the 17th longest running show in London theatre history, and hailed as “one of the West End’s true modern classics” (metro), Wicked is certainly a must-see production, so don’t miss out and get tickets here!
