The Academy is one of Dublin’s busiest live music venues. Boasting three different rooms catering for every possible taste, the Academy has a constantly changing cast of visitors as it hosts a gig several nights every week.
The venue is made up of three main rooms, with the highlight being its main room which has a standing capacity of 650. 200 more people can fit on its upper balcony. In recent years The Academy’s main room has played host to many legendary acts including David Bowie, Slayer, Prince and The Killers.
In the basement, the venue’s smaller Academy 2 room lends itself well to presenting emerging acts, while its 550-capacity ‘Green room’ is ideally suited for club nights with its custom-built PA system. And what club nights they are – the Academy’s two regular nights are its Friday night bash Neon Neon, a ‘future clubbing’ experience featuring CO2 and confetti cannons, and the carnival-themed Saturday night offering Circus. Both of these take up all of the Academy’s rooms.
