Whelan's is one of Dublin's most legendary venues. Serving up live music in Dublin for over 25 years, this intimate, rustic pub is the home of indie in the Irish capital, hosting some of the best gigs in Ireland.
Whelan’s boasts three stages for musicians at all levels with its main stage accommodating up to 400 people. Since 1989 the venue has become renowned for hosting underappreciated and up-and-coming artists who have gone on to bigger things. Just a few of the future stars Whelan’s has hosted include Arctic Monkeys, Kate Nash and Ed Sheeran. Whelan’s legend within the music industry is such that the venue was name-dropped and even used as a filming site in the 2007 film P.S. I Love You.
In addition to the number of live acts constantly coming through its doors, Whelan’s also hosts a number of regular club nights. These include Common People, its Friday night alternative club night, and an indie/rock night on Saturday. It even holds three silent discos a week every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Simply put, if you’re a music lover looking to discover an unknown gem or the next big thing, or are after a cracking indie club night, you can’t look further than paying a visit to Whelan’s.
