Rathmines, coming from the Irish Ráth Maonais meaning fort of Maonas, is an inner suburb of Dublin running alongside the south side of the Grand Canal. It is known to be quite cosmopolitan thanks to Irelands economic boom in the 1990s and the diverse population of international citizens. For those interested in sightseeing, the Mary Immaculate, Refuge of Sinners Church and the Holy Trinity Church (Church of Island) are both two must see items.
