Beloved – and brutal – British stand-up comedian Romesh Ranganathan has just announced the first leg of a huge UK tour, set to take place in 2019.
The first leg of the tour, titled The Cynic’s Mixtape, will start at Southend’s Cliffs Pavilion on 13 September 2019, traversing the country before finishing at Plymouth’s Pavilions on 14 December 2019.
Ranganathan will then return to the stage the following spring for two shows at London’s Eventim Apollo on 17 and 18 April 2019. The second leg of the tour has yet to be announced.
This is just first leg. No I don’t hate your town. Unless it all gets announced and I’m not coming to you. In which case I do.
— Romesh Ranganathan (@RomeshRanga) September 24, 2018
The Cynic’s Mixtape will see Romesh getting back to his roots in stand-up after spending his 2018 starring in shows such as The Misadventures of Romesh Ranganathan, A League Of Their Own, and Judge Ramesh.
The tour will see Ranganathan updating audiences on his life and a whole new list of things he has found unacceptable since his last tour – including why he thinks trying to save the environment is a scam and the inconvenience of his wife’s gluten intolerance on their love life.
Since ditching his career as a maths teacher, Ranganathan has rapidly become one of the UK’s most loved comedians thanks to his hilarious cynicism and regular TV appearances.
The deadpan comic first rose to attention in 2013 when he was nominated for Best Newcomer at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards before gaining a Best Show nomination the following year.
Since 2015 Ranganathan has been a regular on celebrity panel shows, with his famous fandom of Arsenal F.C. gaining him spots on Soccer AM, Play To The Whistle, and A League Of Their Own.
Ranganathan has also appeared in the sitcom The Reluctant Landlord and docu-comedys such as BBC Three’s Asian Provocateur and Showtime’s Just Another Immigrant.
In October 2018, Ranganathan will publish his autobiography, Straight Outta Crawley (Memoirs of a Distinctly Average Human Being), detailing the adventures of his life to date.
