American rock superstars Foo Fighters are set to be headliners at next year’s Glasgow Summer Sessions, the festival’s organisers have announced.
The Foos’ headline set – which will be the band’s first gig in Scotland at all since 2015 - will take place on Saturday 17 August 2019 at Bellahouston Park.
That means the rock heavyweights have followed The Cure as headliners already announced for next year’s festival – The Cure will play on the Friday night.
Other acts already announced for 2019’s Glasgow Summer Sessions include Mogwai, The Twilight Sad, and the Joy Formidable.
Tickets for Friday and Saturday of the festival go on sale this Friday 23 November at 9am GMT. You can find and compare ticket prices below once tickets are released.
Foo Fighters’ Glasgow Summer Sessions set isn’t the first of theirs to have been declared for next summer’s festival circuit as it follows the announcement of two dates in Ireland.
The Foos will play at Vital Festival, Belfast on Monday 19 August 2019 and the RDS Arena, Dublin on Wednesday 21 August 2019.
Prior to this, the band fronted by ex-Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl will spend June performing shows in Croatia, Denmark and Norway.
Foo Fighters have made their own place in rock history, having released nine studio albums since their formation in 1994 including four UK No. 1s.
Four of the band’s albums have won Grammy Awards for Best Rock Album – more than any other rock band has ever won.
All but one of Foo Fighters’ albums have reached the Top 3 in the UK Albums Chart and the band have become renowned for their enormous live shows.
The Foos’ latest album Concrete and Gold, released in 2017, shot to No. 1 in the US and UK on the back of the stomping single ‘The Sky Is A Neighborhood’.
