Tom Hiddleston is to star in a new production of acclaimed playwright Harold Pinter's Betrayal, marking the conclusion of the Pinter at the Pinter season.
The announcement came on November 15th, forty years to the day since Betrayal was first performed in 1978, stating that the production will begin on March 5th 2019 and will run for strictly 12 weeks with the Golden Globe-winning Tom Hiddleston.
Largely considered as one of Harold Pinter's greatest work, Betrayal is a highly emotional, humorous and poetic play that follows a seven years told in reverse chronological order. The complexities of the human heart are explored in this moving tail, first produced by the National Theatre and starring Penelope Wilton and Michael Gambon.
Hiddleston will return to the London stage as Robert, following other incredible roles in productions like Hamlet, Coriolanus and Othello, having earned worldwide acclaim in his role as Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as well as Kong: Skull Island and War Horse.
On his new role, Hiddleston said: "Betrayal is a masterpiece. Jamie Lloyd's Pinter at the Pinter season is terrific and I am so pleased that he's asked me to be part of it."
The Pinter at the Pinter season celebrates one of the greatest playwrights of all time, combining all twenty of his short one-act plays into interesting and thought provoking shows with stars and friends from throughout his career portraying his characters. Actors like Penelope Wilton, Tamsin Greig, Danny Dyer, Paapa Essiedu, Lee Evans, Martin Freeman, David Suchet and more.
