Disney's Live Action 'Aladdin' teases first poster

The upcoming live-action remake of Disney classic Aladdin has dropped it's first teaser since announcing Will Smith will star as the beloved Genie, sharing the first poster image with the caption "Choose Wisely".

The film will be joining a slew of animated classics receiving live-action re-tellings, from the fan-favourites Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast and The Jungle Book, as well as the much anticipated Lion King, due to star Donald Glover and Beyoncé

Aladdin follows the story of a seemingly no-good street rat, who stumbled across a powerful genie lamp and uses its power to give him everything he could have dreamed of. Soon enough the evil Vizier Jafar catches wind of the genie and sets out to capture it for himself, leaving Aladdin to save the day - and the Princess.

Mena Massoud, Naomi Scott and Will Smith will star in the live-action remake of 'Aladdin'

Due to star as the lovable rogue is the Canadian-Egyptian actor Mena Massoud, with Londoner Naomi Scott joining him as Princess Jasmine. Smith of course, is due to portray the wise-cracking Genie, sharing the new poster to Instagram with the caption "LEMME OUT!! Can't wait for y'all to see Me BLUE! #aladdin"

Disney also shared the image to their Twitter, confirming that a "first look" will follow today. As of yet, whether the first look will be a trailer or more images is unclear.

Filming for the live-action remake began in late 2017, right before the film celebrated it's 25th anniversary in November. Marwan Kenzari will star as Jafar, with many new characters due to be introduced with the likes of Nasim Pedrad and Billy Magnussen joining the cast.

Not only are there to be new characters, but new songs will join the favoured classics, due to be written by the original composer Alan Menken and the Tony Award-winning songwriters of Dear Evan Hansen, Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.

EDIT: Disney have unveiled a new trailer for the film:

Aladdin is set for release on May 24th, 2019. Make sure to save the film now to get reminded when it hits theatres near you.
