Fans excited to see Alexandra Burke play Roxie Hart in the West End production of Chicago can now be sure that she will ‘Razzle Dazzle’ ‘em, thanks to first shots of her in character as the suspected murderer.
X Factor winner Burke will take over the role of Hart from actress Sarah Soetaert on 13th August and will continue in the part until 13th October.
Burke will join current cast members Martin Kemp, Mazz Murray, Josefine Gabriella and Paul Rider on the production, which opened on 11th April at London’s Phoenix Theatre and will run until 5th January 2019.
Burke is doing the rounds in West End musicals this year – she is set to return to lead the cast of The Bodyguard this December while it does its winter tour, having starred in the London Coliseum production of Chess alongside Michael Ball this past spring.
Roxie Hart isn’t the only character to be played by multiple actors in this production of Chicago – last month, Kemp replaced Hollywood actor Cuba Gooding Jr in the role of Billy Flynn, whom Kemp will play until 1st September.
Further casting announcements are set to be made, but for now let’s enjoy Burke in costume and ‘All That Jazz’.
